We are planning Yarducopia Meet and Greets in April to kick off the gardening season. We are hoping that everyone that plans to participate in Yarducopia this summer can make it to one of the events. If you can’t make it to the geographically suggested one, please come to the other. If you are not sure you can participate this year, or are just interested in being a supporter, we probably have room for you to come hang out with us! In any case, RSVP with details of your situation to Michelle at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can keep track of things! If you didn’t get an email with this invite, let us know – there may be a problem with your email in our system!
Date: Saturday, April 18 (suggested to those who live south of Tudor or east of Bragaw/Elmore)
The rest of these details are the same for either date:
Time: 3pm-6pm; composting and sheet mulching demonstrations will be held at 3:30pm
Place: 1010 W 30th Avenue, Anchorage 99503 (between Arctic Blvd and Spenard Rd). This is an outdoor garden location, please dress appropriately to be outside the whole time. There is a fair amount of off street and on street parking, but please carpool, bike, walk, or bus if you can. Let me know if you are interested in a carpool when you RSVP and I will try to match folks up!
What to expect and Bring: Please bring a dish/snack/dessert/or non-alcoholic beverage to share!
I will have Yarducopia information and application forms on hand for those that haven’t filled them out yet. There will be a short demonstration on sheet mulching and composting, the rest of the time is to kick back, relax, meet your fellow gardeners and ask any questions you have about the program.
Please email any questions you have about the event and please RSVP to email@example.com.
Other Yarducopia news: We have reached our quota of 20 yards for the season, but have started a wait list in case any of the yards don’t work out. Please keep in mind that there is a suggested donation of $100 by the yard owner to help cover costs of building the garden. No one will be turned away due to financial hardship/inability to donate. Yard owners are welcome to contact me to schedule a yard visit at this time to discuss garden placement and any special circumstances. We still have room for more volunteer gardeners and people to help with the garden builds in May and June! We will complete the yard owner/gardening volunteer match up process by the end of April and begin scheduling builds and planting for May and June.
Looking forward to gardening with many of you!
