Midtown Garden Depot – 2930 Cheechako Street

The Midtown Garden Depot (MGD) is a space to donate, store, and pickup free gardening supplies. The depot shares the lot with a community garden. The depot is on the North side of the lot and white signs mark the materials being collected and shared with the public. The community garden occupies the South side of the lot. Please respect the garden, their tools, and the surrounding neighbors when you visit.

Hours: Open 7 days a week, 6 am – 10 pm.

Gate: Held closed by a bunjee cord. Leave the gate as you found it.

What’s available: Plant pots and trays, bagged leaves (from last fall), woodchips, aged manure/compost, mushroom bricks, cardboard, native soil (not potting mix), and landscaping rocks. If we’re out of something, let Nick know – 907 717 4392.

Donations:

  • Anytime: Leaves, pots, and other gardening tools and equipment (shelf stable stuff)
  • No bagged grass, manure, food waste, or other materials that can rot dropped off outside of composting workshops or by special arrangement – see Special Drop Offs below.
  • Special Drop Offs: We’ll accept time-sensitive ‘green’ materials during our weekly composting sessions and on special arrangement. This includes materials like PESTICIDE-FREE grass clippings, horse, goat, and chicken manure, and vegetable food waste (Could arrange a take a bucket/leave a bucket kind of system upon request). Volunteers needed to help community compost!
